I like to give my bus eireann day saver tickets to strangers when I get off the bus at my final stop. Its a small gesture and saves a stranger some money.

Dinner cooked, hovering done, washing ironed, kids in pjs, just about to get a nice glass of wine, when a good friend rang. She was upset, so I downed tools and drove 40mins to her house, didn’t get home til 1am. But I know that (hopefully) she would do the same for me if I ever needed her!!!

Some weeks back while helping out at a charity golf fundraising event at adare manor in county limerick as a steward and working for free for 2 long days and being unemployed for the last 2 years , while having a well deserved tea break in the volunteers food tent on my way out i spotted an elderly man in a wheelchair being pushed along by an equally elderly lady. now after some difficulty the couple went to the counter to order some food and not knowing that it was for the volunteers only tent they got turned away...on my way out the elderly lady approached me and with a ten euro note in her hand asked me to buy some tea and sandwiches for them anyway without saying a word took the 10 euro note and with an air of importance proceeded to the counter and got a tray of freshly cut sandwiches and a pot of tea..
They were delighted.. And without saying a word handed back the 10 euro to the lady and i slipped away into the crowd..

One Xmas I wanted to give a stranger a gift but wanted to remain anonymous, so I put €20.00 behind a picture of an angel at Tesco's. I let the angel in the picture decide to inspire whoever (rich or poor) to pick up the picture and thus get the €20.00.
I had so much fun just thinking of the surprise that person got that now every year, I place €20.00 behind an angel picture and give myself the gift of enjoying someone else's good fortune and remain anonymous to them.

I was on the bus and it was really bad weather, windy and cold. Some Italian lady came on with a €50 note to pay for the bus journey but of course here we dont give any change and the bus driver just started shouting at her and told her if she doesnt produce the change he would make her get off the nest stop. She said she didnt have any and had to be in Blanchardstown in a few minutes so I paid for her bus journey. I couldnt have her thinking that all Irish people were like that rude bus driver. There was no need to shout at her even if he was having a bad day. So the lady tried to take my number so she could arrange to pay me back but i said it was grand. It did make me feel good and she was a lovely lady.

My random act...was leaving the shopping trolley loose, with the euro in it, for the next person so they didn't have to fish for change.

Random act: stopping on my bike to let someone cross the road, instead of just ploughing on like other cyclists usually do (not at lights or pedestrian crossing - that's not a random act, that's just proper road use!)
